An individual who contaminated candy with sleeping medication and distributed them to children at a youth camp in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual crimes against two children who were between nine and ten.
Jon Ruben was arrested after eight children and one adult fell ill at the facility in mid-summer.
The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, confessed to a total of 17 charges when he stood at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week.
Yet, he disputed one of the sexual offences he was facing, which was concerning a young boy.
The defendant was kept in jail ahead of a further hearing on November 28th.
The prosecutor, handling the case, outlined Ruben's offending to the judicial body.
She stated his those affected were under-privileged children who were staying at a summer camp which he managed.
The defendant engaged in a "sweet game" with the youngsters, the legal counsel stated, in which he would go into the sleeping quarters when they were getting ready for bed and request they to consume candy "as quickly as they can".
She told the court the defendant had engaged in this activity with the boys "repeatedly", and youngsters had previously fallen ill the next day.
She stated the man had been able to explain this for many years as the youngsters being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepson had suspicions in recently.
The legal representative stated further: "Recently" his stepson had suspicions about the activities, justifiably.
"They decided to have a look in the defendant's belongings."
The prosecutor stated objects including lubricant, Vaseline and medical needles were discovered, and his family member contacted the police about his worries.
She explained Ruben went on to conduct the "candy game" with six boys that evening - Saturday 26 July - and they were everyone unwell the following morning.
"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that time," she continued.
The police watchdog, the investigative body, previously told that it was examining law enforcement's management of the situation.
Mrs Prior explained the minors were unable to walk properly due to being ill, so the family member called the law enforcement again.
She said the man then played the "candy game" in a room of five children.
